What is the Panel?
The Panel is a very important part of the My Little Pony Awards. Not only does the Panel decide the nominees and winners for Technical categories, but it also decides the first group of 20 nominees for each Peoples' Choice category. The Panel is intended to be a group of 5 very talented "experts" in the Art field.

The voting public assembles the Panel through an election process. Anyone who applies for a panelist position will have a portfolio of work displayed on the Awards Website in order to aid the public in choosing the most qualified applicants. There will be 5 people on the Art Panel.

What are the Panelists' responsibilities?
Each Panelist has a large responsibility to the My Little Pony Awards. Panelists should have a broad and developed knowledge about *artwork,* as well as a body of work to support this knowledge. Applying for a panelist position for Art is not the same as applying to be a panelist for, say, Fanfiction; the Art Panel disbands once winners are announced.

Panelists are sworn to secrecy about all decisions they make regarding the My Little Pony Awards. Under no circumstance may a panelist reveal (especially to fellow panelists) what artwork or which artists they have voted for; only Vote Counters are privy to that knowledge.

A panelist's work is still eligible to compete in the Awards. Because panelists are intended to be top artists (as seen by the public), awarding a winner without considering their own work would be leaving out potentially some of the best artowrk in the community. There are enough checks and balances within the Awards that favoritism will not only be diswayed, but will be completely nonexistant.

2004 Irregularity: Because the last Art Awards unfortunately never came to a conclusion due to many different circumstances, the '02 Art Panelists were all given the option of returning to the Panel for the current Art Awards. I felt this was only fair, since they were elected by the My Little Pony Community, yet never got the chance to do their jobs. 3 of those past Panelists have decided to return, so the Public will be electing only 2 new Panelists for the '04 Art Panel rather than 5.
