Below is a brief explanation of all 12 categories that make up the Custom Awards.

a. Customizer of the Year
...the biggie. Customizer of the year is chosen by both the Panel and the Public. As the name of this award surely attests, this award honors the best customizer of the year. The "Customizer of the Year" should have an impressive body of work, and make extremely appealing customs. *The Panel's cummulative decision will be worth 50% of the vote for this award. The remaining 50% of the vote will come from the Public.

b. Custom of the Year [peoples' choice]
Simple enough: Of all the individual customs submitted, the People will choose the best overall custom of the Year.

c. Custom of the Year [technical]
The Panel of experts will choose the best custom out of all customs submitted to the Awards. As with all Technical awards, the judging will naturally focus more on artistic execution.

d. Custom of the Year, Original Theme [peoples' choice]
"Original Theme" means that eligible custom ponies are completely original creations. Basically, any custom that is not Hasbro-Inspired or Inspired by other origins qualifies here.

e. Custom of the Year, Original Theme [technical]
The Panel will make their selection for the best original theme custom of the year.

f. Custom of the Year, Hasbro-Inspired [peoples' choice]
The People will choose their favorite Hasbro-Inspired Custom of the Year. "Hasbro-Inspired" implies that a custom is based exclusively on an already established Hasbro idea. Examples might include, but are not limited to: babies made in the likeness of mothers [a Baby Medley], Daddies made in the likeness of ponies [a Daddy Peachy], adult versions of babies, Pegasus Peachy, etc..

g. Custom of the Year, Hasbro-Inspired [technical]
The Panel will choose the Hasbro-Inspired Custom of the Year.

h. Custom of the Year, Specifically-Inspired [peoples' choice]
Customs inspired by very specific origins compete here. Have you created a custom based on a character in a novel, a movie, or tv show? Have you created a custom paying tribute to a specific organization? Such customs will compete here.

i. Custom of the Year, Specifically-Inspired [technical]
The Panel will choose the Custom of the Year inspired by specific origins.

j. Custom Set of the Year
This award honors ponies intended to be a set. "Set" entails at least two ponies. Examples for Custom Sets include, but are not limited to: twins, families [daddy/mommy/baby, baby/mommy, etc..], customs of intended similar breed [in the same vein as what we consider Twice-As-Fancies, Perfume Puffs, Drink N' Wets, etc...]. This award is decided by the Public only.

k. Custom of the Year, Non-Physical
"Non-Physical" custom means customs that are not currently made into toys. Drawings of customs, ideas for customs. Customs competing in this category should have personalities and explanations attatched. Characters.

l. Innovation of the Year
Decided by the Panel, this award celebrates the innovation of the year. Cutting edge techniques, ideas, and methods. This award aims to look into the future of customizing. "WOW! That's amazing! What a great new idea!"
