"Bonnie Bonnets" Family by Jellybean
number in set: 3

Another of that first set for TJ. Baby Bonnie is the spitting-image of her mother, again with symbols detailed and scaled-down to accurately match her mom's. This is TJ's favorite. ^-^ For that reason, TJ later had me make a brother and dad for baby Bonnie. As flowers and bonnets didn't seem right for boys, we changed the theme to pennants, stars, and baseball caps. Brother Caps and Daddy Caps have symbols that carefully emulate the symbols of the females in the family, and feature the addition of greenish stripes in their hair.

Baby Candy
This little treat was so much fun to make. I've actually made two of her, one in the crouching pose, one in the walking pose. I definitely think the walking pose one is my favorite though.

Baby Licorice

Baby Licorice was somewhat of a trouble maker... her symbols never seemed to look right and I'm still not happy with them but overall I like how she turned out.

Baby Lollipop

Baby Lollipop turned out just lovely I thought. I've always wanted the real thing and didn't have any good pics to work from other than fuzzy web graphics, but I think she's a very very close match anyway.

"Carousel New Editions" by JediMasterLisa

I made a complete set of 5 of the first new edition ponies as carousel ponies. Mixed methods of creation, all of which involve puff paint applied over several rounds, and acrylics.

"Daddy and Mommy Clipper" by Nightlight
number in set: 2
Daddy Clipper is another commissioned pony. I struggled long and hard with his symbols because believe it or not, those sailboats have to be just right or they look "off." But overall I like how he turned out, even though he got off to a really bad start. His wife is shown below as well.

Ahh, Clyde. The very first of the farmboy collection, he started it all!

"Ponies of the Caribbean" by Moonbug
number in set: 6

"Captain Red Morgan"

Red Morgan, the custom, was created from the Sundae Best pony, Banana Surprise, whose bowl of ice cream, carved a bit, became the hull of a pirate ship. Her body was dyed in RIT Crimson, and her hair was rooted with curly black craft doll hair. The eyes are completely hand painted, since the original paint came off in prep.

Jolly Roger

Jolly Roger was originally a Daddy Sweet Celebrations, who desperately needed a dash of manliness. His body was dipped in a Gray RIT bath to tint his body and darken his hair. The eyes remained the same color as the original pony, and a Jolly Roger flag was applied to each hindquarter, each side slightly different, as if the flag were waving in a breeze. The base of the tail was wrapped in a strip of cloth which had been dyed with tea to age it. A headband and scarf were made from tan felt to complete the custom.

Compass Rose

Compass Rose, the morose Helmswoman of The Riptide was born again from a Moon Dancer custom bait. She was dipped in several dye baths to achieve the light brown body color you see here. The hair was dipped at the same time to darken it (though the tail was dipped seperately once I found it at a later time). Her symbol is a Compass Rose design taken from a period map of the world. The Fleur-de-Lis points North. I am especially proud of these symbols.

Gibbet

Originally, I intended to use this body to creat Jolly Roger, but the dye bath was too strong, and I ended up with Gibbet (who I was planning to make later on). I wish I had known he would have become this particular pony, as the hair he came with would have worked perfectly, as it was chopped and scruffy just like I planned Gibbet's to be. Instead, I pulled out the mohawk and pathetic tail, and now I'm suffering severe blisters from trying to reroot hair, as this body is hard as a rock - I've actually used him to hammer tacks into the walls! He's shown here with half a mane, and an interim tail made from a pipe cleaner! Thanks to Daisy for his cool eye patch!!

Hawk Eye

Hawk Eye was created from a Posey, and of the pirate ponies here, she is the most likely candidate for a revisit. While I love the color her hair turned out to be (the faded white dipped carefully in light blue dye), I envision her hair as a much deeper blue, and the length to be much longer. On the other hand, I love her freckles, and am very happy with the symbols, especially because I normally don't like to use Testor's metallic model paints.

Treasure

Originally I was disappointed to discover, upon dying, that the body for this custom was plagued with severe disparity in vinyl qualities. However, I have come to actually like the 'speckled' look. I envision Treasure as non-caucasion (to put it in human perspective), and the red speckling reminds me of tribal body tattoos which women of many cultures are subject to. I was tickled pink by how well the symbols came out; they almost seem to have the very visual texture of parchment. The shocking red hair was a perfect match for the character's personality. This was another occasion where the choice of custom bait made my job quite a bit easier.

Sisters: Baby and Newborn Pina Colada" by Stockings

I am very proud of these two, I think they match their mom very well. Completed at the same time. I used a Tropical Barbie's hair for these two. The colors also match very well. They even have their mom's eyeshadow!
